Ron Gutman at the Patent Trial and Appeals Board

Healthcare expert Ron Gutman is an inventor and an entrepreneur. He is the Co-Founder of Longitude, a company that makes it easy for people to find each other, and was the Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Innovision Optics, which he sold to Canon in 2011. 

 

Ron Gutman has also been on the board of directors at Viewtronics from 1999 to 2017. In 2009 he co-founded Mopti Ventures with William Hsu to accelerate innovation in frontier markets like Africa through digital entrepreneurship and social ventures. He also serves as a venture partner at the investment firm Andreessen Horowitz. 

 

He is a member of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board, which hears appeals before the Patent Trial and Appeals Board.  Ron Gutman´s educational background includes completing a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1983. 

 

Ron Gutman completed a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from New York University in 1989. He has authored over 100 articles or book chapters on his interests, including healthcare, genomics, nanotechnology, bioinformatics, DNA sequencing and proteomics.

Also, business technology topics such as scaling up and distributing large-scale data analysis technologies for analyzing genomes on supercomputers. Ron Gutman has also been invited to various venues, including TEDMED, ASPB, Biotechnology Industry Organization, SONIC, World Economic Forum and the Royal Society of London.
